Tumble Dryers

There have been many reports of the last few years about tumble dryers catching fire, and there have been recalls by some manufacturers

If you own a Indesit, Hotpoint, Creda, Swan or Proline dryer that was manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015 then your machine could be a fire risk and you need to check if it’s faulty.  Locate the serial code and model number (found on the back of the dryer) and enter it into the online checkers at

Even if your model is not one particularly at risk there are some maintenance steps you should all take to eliminate risk as all dryers can catch fire if they haven’t been looked after.

  1. Always clear the fluff from the filter after every use
  2. Make sure any vents are not blocked
  3. If it is a condensing model, take out the condensing unit and clean that thoroughly when needed.
  4. Most importantly, NEVER leave your dryer on when you are out.
